Try "PowerX PERFECTDISK 13 Pro" -Defrag tool that is easier to use at high speed

If you use a PC, you may feel late. One of the causes is the fragmentation of the file (also called a fragmentation). As the file is deleted, the vacant area occurs unexpectedly.Even if you are in a discontinuous state, the OS writes the file without creating a vacant area.As a result, File 1 is written in three places as shown in FIG. 1.

Fig. 1 A state where fragmentation has occurred

This mechanism itself is for using HDD efficiently, and is the right operation. However, a big problem occurs here.In this example, three disk I/O is required to read File 1 (the arrow part). If it is about three times, performance does not have much effect. However, if this exceeds 100, depending on the situation, you will feel slower when reading one file.Naturally, resources consumption such as CPUs also increase. In addition, the head movement is frequent inside the HDD, and exhaustion is likely to occur. Thus, it could cause malfunctions.

Therefore, the periodic fragmentation that occurs regularly will be eliminated. This is called defragmentation (also called defragmentation, optimization, etc.), and Windows comes with a standard deflag tool.

Introducing this article is replacing this standard tool.

PowerX PerfectDisk 13 Pro (hereafter, abbreviated as PERFECTDISK 13) is a deflag tool sold by Net Japan. The price is 4,000 yen for the download version and 5,200 yen for the package version (the package version will be released on January 23).There is no particular system requirement. It would be enough if there was an environment where the OS to be installed properly moved.PerfectDisk 13 officially supports Windows 8/8.1.

After installation, the HDD analysis is performed in the first startup.

Figure 4 Analysis

The analysis automatically determines the defragmentation method. In PerfectDisk 13, there are four types of defragmentation methods for HDD.

With the standard tool, there is only defragmentation.Other than that, it is a unique deflag method of PerfectDisk 13.Especially powerful is the Smartplacement function.

It is a Smartplacement function.Frequently rewritten files are placed near the empty area to prevent fragmentation.Conversely, files that are difficult to change, such as system files, are placed at the top of the HDD so that reading is faster. Therefore, if the defragmentation is repeated in Perfcetdisk 13, the defragmentation time will be reduced.

In addition, although it is a binding of the empty area, it can be expected to have an effect that does not cause fragmentation. As shown in FIG. 1, fragmentation is caused by a large number of vacant areas in the HDD.Although there is a function to defend files, there are few defragmental tools that have the function of binding the vacant region. This is also a characteristic function of PerfectDisk.

And system files such as page files and MFTs are also possible. This is also a function not found in standard tools.

Finally, let's introduce the SSD defragmentation. There is a writing limit in SSD, and if you rewrite it like an HDD, the life will be reduced. Therefore, in PerfectDisk 13, the free space is combined and maximized to the SSD so that the writing efficiency of the file is improved.

The defragment will start at [Start] in the upper left. The first time takes a lot of time.Click [Automatic Shutdown] to shut down when the defragmentation is completed. If it takes time, I want to set it.It can be set even during defragmentation.FIG. 5 is the state where the defragmentation is completed.

Figure 5 Defraging is completed

At the top, a system file related to the start or related, and then the frequently rewritten files are lined up.The number of fragments was less than 2.In PerfectDisk 13, the defragmentation time has been up to 20%.Unfortunately, deflags are unlikely to be the same environment, so it will be difficult to experience.
