I learned "LoL" at "e-sports gym"!Offline advice is better for beginners | Mynavi News Mynavi News Mynavi

Arrive at the e-sports gym immediately after exiting Exit 3 of Akabane Iwabuchi Station on the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line.

Challenge again to "LoL" which was frustrated in the past!

I visited the "LoL Hour" held every Saturday. There is an instructor who is familiar with "LoL", and it is a day when you can play while receiving advice. "LoL Hour" is welcomed by anyone, from beginners to veterans. Even people who are unfamiliar with PC games can be taught how to create an account.

It's not the first time I've played "LoL", but I've had some setbacks in the past. "LoL" is a game with a simple purpose of fighting for the destruction of the enemy's home base 5 to 5. However, because of the depth, I needed a lot of knowledge, and I couldn't overcome the first hurdle.

However, "LoL" is a world-famous esports title. The professional league "League of Legends Japan League" (LJL) is also held in Japan, so for me who watch e-sports competitions of various titles, I will acquire knowledge so that I can enjoy the game of "LoL" more. I wanted to be.

Under such circumstances, I learned that "LoL Hour" was being held at an e-sports gym, and came to my heart with the expectation that "If you go through this, you may be able to learn" LoL "!".

There are three types of e-sports gym usage plans: regular members, regular members, and professional course members (online only). I have a gaming PC at home and plan to attend only "LoL Hour" every Saturday, so I registered as a member each time.

Members can use the store's gaming PC for 1,430 yen for up to 3 hours each time for free. Considering that you can play with advice, it's quite reasonable.

However, since the instructor gives advice while looking at the user evenly, it is not always possible for the instructor to give guidance. However, as a beginner, I was reluctant to receive guidance for 3 hours, so I felt it was just right.

Regular members can use the store's gaming PC for up to 3 hours every day for 5,500 yen per month, and can optionally take lessons by professional teams and players from 2,750 yen per hour (the amount depends on the lesson content). If you want to get more serious coaching, this is a good choice.

Benefits of "learning offline" that beginners feel

I had a blank since I touched "LoL" in the past, so I started again from the introductory level of AI battles against computers. While playing, if you are confused because there is something you do not understand, the instructor will look at the screen from behind and support you.

What I felt at this time was that it was very easy for me to tell me that it was an offline place where I could directly see the screen and appearance I was playing. For beginners who do not fully understand the operation and functions of the game, it may not be possible to catch up with the advice even if they receive advice only with words, but if you explain while pointing at the screen concretely, it will be very smooth and stressful. I didn't feel it.

Also, "LoL" is a game with a lot of information and a flat tire, but you can teach it step by step while watching the situation. Even if you don't have much experience in games, if you can teach me in such an offline place, the hurdles will be lowered considerably.

By the way, "LoL Hour" is a day when people who want to play "LoL" gather, so it seems that users sometimes interact with each other, but basically communication with the instructor was the main thing on this day. If you want to play with someone, invite a friend to reserve a seat next to each other.

Discuss goals with the instructor

After playing AI battles several times while receiving advice, I consulted with the instructor about my goals while attending "LoL Hour" in the future.

In "LoL", after practicing basic AI battles, we will challenge interpersonal battles. Since there is a big difference in difficulty between AI battles and interpersonal battles, he advised us, "For now, let's aim to win in the normal interpersonal battles (blind picks of the Summoners Lift)."

It seems that it will be a long time before we challenge the interpersonal battle, but we will aim to achieve our goal while playing at home and learning at the e-sports gym once a week.

In addition, many elementary school students go to the e-sports gym, and it seems that the children write down the goals and reflections they want to achieve on the "goal record sheet". In an environment where the eyes of an instructor who has a deep understanding of the game can be seen, it can be said that it is an environment unique to e-sports gyms that you can set goals firmly and play the game.

Decide the role and champion to practice for the future

Next, we will discuss how to practice. "LoL" has 5 roles (roles), "Top", "Mid", "ADC (Attack Damage Carry)", "Support", and "Jungle", so first decide which role to practice. Was recommended.

As a result of consulting with the instructor, the top candidate was listed. The top lane is on the edge of the map (upper left) and is mainly a lane headed by one person, so it is easy to continue a one-on-one battle and it is relatively easy for even one beginner to practice.

When I played in the past, I was being taught by someone, so I was practicing ADC with support and heading to the bot lane. However, since ADC is a role that also requires cooperation with support, this time I decided to choose a top that is easy for one person to practice.

There are champions (characters) suitable for each of the five rolls, and champions with characteristics such as "fighters" and "tanks" are mainly selected for the top lane.

Speaking of the top players, the first thing that comes to mind is Evi from "DetonatioN Focus Me". At last year's World Championship "2021 League of Legends World Championship" (commonly known as Worlds 2021), the success of the champion "Urgot" used by Evi was very impressive.

For that reason, I mentioned Urgot as a candidate for the champion to practice, and the instructor recommended it, so I got it from the store right away. First of all, I decided to practice for a while with this champion.

Instructors have a wealth of knowledge not only about the content of the game, but also about the e-sports scene. After a brief explanation of the characteristics and skills of Urgot, the topic of the scene that was impressive in "Worlds" in 2021 was lively.

If you explain how the players used their skills while actually watching the scene of the game, you will be able to understand "why the scene was exciting" at once. As a spectator, that alone was fun enough, and I was more motivated to play "LoL".

This is how I decided on the roles and champions to practice and finished my first day experience at the esports gym. After this, I continue to attend "LoL Hour", so if I can achieve the goal of "winning with normal", I would like to publish a continuation of the article. See you in the next article!
